Birthday Excitement!

It was my 22nd birthday on the 24th (Thursday) and I can't say it was the most exciting birthday ever but I've had fun. On Thursday I went out with my dad for a couple hours to look for a new/used car for himself as his car just got totaled. When we were there he had to fill out a form and put my age and it was then that he realized that it was in fact my birthday that day. He and I then went out to lunch at Maki Yaki, or as my mom likes to call it Mucky Yucky. I haven't had it in a long time and it was really tasty. I had a chicken teriyaki bowl and tempura CA roll and mochi ice cream for dessert. MMMMmmmmm....good stuff. After that I drove my dad over to get a blood test and after that I drove him back over to the car dealer so my mom could take a look at it before he bought it. I went home to relax before I had to go to school that night. Bleh. >:P

Saturday was my surprise party day. It wasn't a surprise that I was having a party, the surprise was what my party entailed. I gave the reigns to my SIL Chiemi who planned the day out for me (I'm sure with my other SIL Kellie's help). Unfortunately for me she did not plan my morning and because of my mom it did not entail sleeping in (which I really could have used), it entailed kick-boxing (don't get me wrong, I enjoy it, I just would have preferred not to have to go that day) followed by a thrilling hour of picking up trash to Keep Downey Beautiful (where I got a wonderful bright orange shirt....thrilling!). It was way hot out there in the sun which upsets me to no end because every other year when I wanted to have a pool party for my birthday, it was cold and the one year I don't have a pool party planned, it's blazingly hot. The weather likes to spite me, I feel.

At about 1:30 Chiemi and Kellie showed up at my house and we headed over to the mall to get manicures and/or pedicures...something I've wanted to do for a while now. It was relaxing, but I was sad that we couldn't get a hold of Christy as we didn't have either her nor Tom's cell numbers and so she got left out. Sad :( We'll have to go again soon.

After that we went over to look at a potential house for GE and Dustin and Chiemi. It was nice. Then Chiemi, Kellie and I needed to head off and they took me over to Macy's to get my makeup done all glamorously. I was worried it wasn't going to look good, but I ended up liking it luckily. When that was finally over we headed back to my place to get dressed in my fancy dress that I wore for Brett and Kellie's wedding reception. My mom then took me outside to take some "glamor shots." (The new picture on the side is one of them)

Then I was told we were going to BJ's for dinner but as I was going with Brett and Kellie, we needed to go and pick up her sister Kristi. We got her and then they told me that we needed to stop by the Cerritos institute to pick up something for her mom. When we got there they wanted me to go in with Kristi and so I reluctantly went with her (reluctant because I'm a lazy bum and didn't want to stand up). We got in there and the lights turned on and everyone shouted "Surprise!" I can't say as I was really shocked/surprised but it was unexpected. The most shocking part was more that there were some people that I wouldn't have thought were there like Denise Pellegrino, Brian Morris and Elise Saylors (and to a lesser extent my Grandpa and GB). They had gotten yummy food from Costco and Chiemi made cupcakes. I opened my presents(my replacement Zen with case and a few other things)/cards (with money). Then we were told stories about my past and my wonderful cuteness. All in all it was a lot of fun (even though I thought it was sorta strange to have my birthday party at the institute building).
